So Proud

I just had to give a HUGE shout out to my Mom and Dad! You see they have QUIT smoking!! After 30 years!! Anybody that has ever quit or tried to quit knows what a huge feat this is. I just wanted to let them know how very proud of them we all are.

And to thank them for being so respectful of us when they were still smoking. After Isaac was born my parents started to only smoke in their basement. Now this is in their own home...where they pay the mortgage and bills. Where they kick back and relax. They, without any nudging from me, decided that their home would be smoke free everywhere but the basement. Then when Isaac was around 2 or so they quit smoking in their house all together. The new rule was if anybody wanted a cigarette they had to go outside to smoke it. My parents included!! They did not smoke in their own home to make us more comfortable when we visited. I can't even begin to tell you how grateful I was for this...especially after Isaac was diagnosed with asthma. All I can say is they must really LOVE their grandkids to have made that sacrifice for all these years. Going outside in the cold, rain and any other kind of inclement weather to smoke so their grandbabies wouldn't be exposed to carcinogens. Just to be clear we did not ask them to do this. Pastor Frank would be rolling over in his grave if we ever did that. In fact Pastor Frank told us we were flat out wrong for asking them not to smoke in our house!! Of course we never had to actually ask them that because they never would've smoked in our house in the first place. They're much too respectful for that. But Pastor Frank did indeed tell us that we should go buy them ashtrays and invite them to smoke like chimney's!! That's how he welcomed smoker's in his home:)

Thank you Mom and Dad for loving us and yourselves enough to take charge of your health!! Thank you for being a good example to all of us....hard things can be done!! And thank you for making the decision to live a long long life that will keep you around for years and years to come :) You've gotten through 6 weeks with no cigarettes...you have the strength to make it forever without one now!!

We love you!!
